Carlos Santos
Musician and sound artist, presents his work since the early nineties, through sound installations, multi-channel audiovisual pieces, performance, radio and concerts. Solo or in groups of different scales, explores the architectural space and acoustic phenomena in musical development.
Maintains a constant presence in the fields of new electroacoustic improvisation, or “live electronics”, in Portugal and abroad, collaborating with numerous artists, including Ernesto Rodrigues, Guilherme Rodrigues, Carlos Zingaro, Emidio Buchinho, Nuno Torres, Ulrich Mitzlaff, Abdul Moimeme, Wade Mathews, Birgit Ulher, Martin Kuchen, Stefan Rives, Andrew Drury, among others, extensively documented in CD format, with nearly 30 titles. He has conducted “deep listening actions”, “sound art pratice” and electronic improvisation workshops, organized “soundwalks” and worked with small communities on experimental site-specific projects. He was also a teacher of sound composition at the Ar.Co School of Arts, Digital Audio and programming in max/msp environment at Restart (School of Design and New Technologies) and at the Instituto Politécnico Autónomo – IPA
